While the Big Island doesn’t offer the vast wide open beaches that some of the other Hawaiian islands do, we do have a few beaches and small lagoons here in the Hilo area. Hilo Bay Beach is where the canoe club is and although it doesn’t get very busy unless there is something special going on nearby or there is a canoe competition. Take a drive down along Kalanianaole Avenue and you will find these parks. Onekahakaha Beach or Kids Beach is a man made lagoon with the surf bloc
